Many people with missing teeth feel self-conscious about the gaps in their smile. However, missing teeth can cause problems with a more profound impact than just appearances.
Spaces where your teeth should be can cause your other teeth to shift, and affect the way your jaw is aligned. In addition to changing the way you eat and speak, missing teeth can alter your facial structure. Without all of your teeth in the right position, the face starts to sag, and, in some cases, the shape of the face can change entirely.
As the name would suggest, dental implants are artificial teeth that are implanted into the jawbone, rather than being removable like dentures. The entire process may take several appointments, and a few months, from start to finish.
The process begins with a consultation. We’ll discuss your needs and what you’re hoping to achieve with tooth implant services. The dentist will examine your mouth and jaw to ensure you have enough bone to support implants. If you don’t, we may need to do a bone graft before we can proceed with implants.
Once you’ve asked all of your questions and the dentist has determined that you’re a good candidate for implants, we can schedule the first part of your procedure.
Once you’re appropriately numbed with a local anesthetic, the dentist will begin the procedure. Each implant is a titanium post that adapts to your jawbone, anchoring it the way the roots of a tooth would. Each post protrudes slightly from the gums, acting as a base for your future artificial teeth.
Over the next few months, the bone will fuse to the implant, securing it firmly.
Once your implants have fully healed, we can move on to the next phase. This is when we attach the artificial teeth to the implants. This can be done individually like crowns, or all at once like bridges or dentures, depending on what you have discussed with your dentist.
We provide a full range of dental implant treatment including bone grafting, soft tissue grafting, dental implants, implant-supported dentures, implant crowns, and implant bridges. Our dental clinic offers comprehensive dental implant treatments to patients.
Once we have evaluated your needs and dental history, we can provide a custom recommendation on which solutions will work best for your particular situation.
Ti Dental is easily found in suite 708 of the Chinook Centre Professional Tower. We hope to see you in our office soon.
