How Does Zoom 2!™ In-Office Whitening Work & How Long Does it Take?

Your Zoom 2!™ treatment starts with the application of a special gel containing hydrogen peroxide. We’ll then use a special light to activate the gel, allowing it to work for one hour. This light never gets any warmer than your body temperature to reduce potential sensitivity. Once the lightening process is complete, the gel is removed from your teeth. We then apply a fluoride treatment to protect and remineralize your teeth.

The complete procedure takes just over an hour. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed by one hour of whitening. A dental cleaning is recommended prior to the actual Zoom 2!™ Whitening session.

What Does a Patient Experience During the Zoom 2!™ In-Office Procedure?

During the procedure, patients may comfortably watch television or listen to music. Many actually fall asleep. Individuals with a strong gag reflex or anxiety may have difficulty undergoing the entire procedure.

Is There Any Difference Between Over-the-Counter Tooth Whiteners & Zoom 2!™?

Yes! Over-the-counter tooth whitening strips, brush-on gels, and toothpaste may take weeks or months to whiten your teeth. Zoom 2!™ is clinically proven to whiten your teeth in one hour.

What Are the Causes of Tooth Discoloration?

There are many causes of tooth discoloration. The most common include ageing and the consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, colas, tobacco, red wine, etc. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.

How is Exposure to the Zoom 2!™ Light Controlled?

The Zoom 2!™ procedure requires that all soft tissue in and around the mouth be protected. We will monitor the procedure to ensure any exposed skin or tissue is isolated and protected. Protective eyewear is required during the procedure.

Light sensitive individuals including those undergoing PUVA (Psoralen+UV Radiation) therapy or other photo-chemotherapy, as well as patients with melanoma, should not undergo the Zoom 2!™ In-Office procedure. Also, patients taking any light sensitive drugs or substances, whether over-the-counter, prescription or homeopathic, should consult their primary physician prior to the procedure.

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist is safe.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Some people experience increased tooth sensitivity to cold during treatment. These symptoms disappear within 1-3 days after completion of the treatment.
